A Treasure Lies Just At The End Of Sydney Harbor

Sydney Harbor is an incredible place to visit

Sydney Harbor is an incredible place to visit. Maybe it's the amazing looking Opera House that sits in the middle of the Harbor and glows through the evening hours or possibly it's the incredible Harbor Bridge with its historic feel. No matter how you look at it the Sydney Harbor is amazing and if you prefer you can stay in one of the many beautiful accommodations that overlook this incredible sight in Sydney. The Harbor is truly the center of the city.

At the southern end of this amazing Harbor is one of the most fantastic treasures in Sydney, Watsons Bay. The Bay is the oldest fishing village established back in the late 1700s and this location is also one of historical significance because it is where Governor Phillip initially landed in Australia. This region has much historical significance to the city and is an excellent place to spend at least a half day just looking around and picking up something to eat.

Watsons Bay is also home to the very first Doyles Restaurant and this incredible restaurant is one which is a favorite among locals and is also the first sight where Doyle began to sell his fish back in 1845. A trip to Watsons Bay will not be complete without dining at Doyles and if you happen to be searching for a more informal way to try out the remarkable food that Doyles serves they also have a location on the Wharf which allows you to take away some of their mouth watering fish and chips to eat in the park.

This location is a great way to experience the incredible history of Sydney and you will find that even just taking a walk around the paths along the wharf you will be able to spend about an hour touring the Hornsby Lighthouse, South Head, and in the unbelievable nude beach at Lady Bay. On this tour you will even be able to visit the site of the wreck of Dunbar.

A day trip to Watsons Bay should be on every Sydney tourists list. If you're staying in the city you can get to the bay by traveling along Oxford Street out of the city or by catching a bus or a ferry from Circular Quay. Regardless of what else you see in the city of Sydney, make sure to check out the rich history, amazing views, and fine dining at Watsons Bay.
