The Gray Whales of Mexico

The Gray Whales of Mexico

The sight of whales frolic playing or cavorting or even just plainly swimming in the waters never fails to evoke a sense of admiration and marvel. Gray whales migrate annually every fall from the cold waters of Northern Bering to the Sea of Cortez to give birth and spend winter months in the warm waters of the Pacific that are rich with food. The best place in Mexico to watch these huge but gentle whales with their calves is Magdalena Bay just off the coast of Los Cabos. San Ignacio is equally as famous for whale watching but there is a higher possibility of seeing the whales in Los Cabos than any other location in Baja especially during the peak season from the end of December to the end of March. There are strict rules and laws that are imposed on whale watching tours to ensure that the whales are protected. Include this age-old annual tradition and be a part of this Mexico vacation adventure.

Tijuana Vacations

The sunny city of Tijuana is the most frequented border city and is easily accessible from San Diego via the trolley that goes right to the border. Visitors going on a Mexico vacation will still enjoy shopping for Mexican handicrafts, leather goods, cigars, silver, beadwork and jewelry as well as imported goods at the known Avenida Revolucion although it may be very near the US. You can learn so much more about the culture of Mexico by visiting the Tijuana Cultural Center or the Municipal Institute of Arts and Culture. Try out something new by watching a Jai Alai game at the Jai Alai Fronton Palace, place a bet at the Greyhound race at Hipodromo Caliente or sit on the edge of your seat with the exciting though bloody bullfight at El Toreo de Tijuana and the Plaza Munumental Playas de Tijuana. Tijuana showcases vibrant Mexican culture and is a place that is truly worth visiting.

Riviera Maya Vacations

For those still looking for the charm of a bygone century, one of the most beautiful destinations to go to is the Riviera Maya. There, one can find the old cities of the ancient Mayans. Visit one of the most majestic cities is Chichen Itza which was the former capital of the Mayan empire and climb up to the top of the Castillo, the grand pyramid or most importantly, visit the observatory where astronomers formulated one of the most accurate calendars. Tulum is another great destination, the only walled city of the Mayans which conveniently overlooks the waters and the beachfront. But this is not all there is to this region which boasts of many other interesting attractions and activities. Xcaret is an ecological park that has a Mayan theme while Xel-Ha has many caves, coves and lagoons that you can explore and swim in. Or otherwise, go on a day tour of Isla Mujeres that has a Mayan temple and several watersports or Isla Contoy with its sandy white beaches and lush palm trees. Mexico vacations are definitely a learning experience when you include the Riviera Maya.
