A Walker's Paradise Into Another Time and Another Place

A Walker's Paradise Into Another Time and Another Place

There are those of us who come from all directions of life, who crave for that deep spiritual peace, and splendid isolation gained from a true walking holiday. Our desires being to shun a five star hotel, beautiful villa or apartment and not to mention a purpose built holiday resort which are very popular for holidays in Lanzarote.

Instead, we need to be where we can throw off the mantle of our business and life responsibilities for a few precious days, and return as close as we can to Mother Nature, to rejuvenate our tired minds. Where does one find such a location, which has retained its wild and natural beauty since nature created it?

Which has also by some miracle, escaped the ravages of this 21st Centuries holiday market's voracious hunger to capitalise on it?

The 40 mile long, by 16 mile wide island of Lanzarote is one such place, some 80 miles off the coast of Morocco, and only some four hours flight away from the UK, with a climate which is second to none for all year round walking holidays.

The full spectrum of its wild and unspoilt glory, along with its own unique plant life and animal life, and much more fascinating natural phenomenon's can be found. Starting from the Northern part of the island, there are the many ancient sub-terranean structures created from volcanic eruptions of centuries ago, and where there are caves which are as original as when they were first formed.

The central section of the island is predominately your holiday resorts area, with all of the holiday activities one would expect, to be there, but one worthy of note would be the Rancho Texas Park which is just outside of Puerto del Carmen. The southern region however is different yet again, where the 200 square kilometres Timanfaya national park is located.

This is where the islands climate has reaped true rewards because this area is till volcanically active, with geysers, red soil, and a true lunar landscape, and which is rich with vegetation, and is still untouched by the modern world. There is of course strict control over the public who wish to explore this wonderful and unspoilt area, however there is much else to see.

It goes without saying that purpose made walking boots, and equipment must used, and only the experienced trekkers should venture out with their 'full back pack' into this 'Another Time, Another Place'.
