0430hrs! The alarm, get out of bed stumble down the stairs click on the kettle and get showered. A quick brew, the first cigarette of the day, I know, but you have to have some vices! Flask made and vehicle warmed up. By 0500 we are on the road, its dark wet and cold, another glorious day!

At a quarter to six we are on the plot and conducting a confirmatory recce, drive by the house..no lights on..vehicle parked on the drive..the subjects. 0700hrs radio check, alls quiet, light readings taken, video and stills shots taken, no change..0730hrs..God its cold..wooly hat on, demist the windows, gloves on. Ablutions completed the dogs let back in.

0745hrs..the front door opens, Standby Standby'..the team is alerted. Video taken of the subject walking to his car, opens the drivers door, ignition on..engine on, he gets out of the car and goes back indoors.

0755hrs..'Standby Standby'. The subject comes out of the house, locks the door, video switched to record, stills shots taken, the subject gets into his car and drives off. Wait until the subjects out of sight, check no one is around and get into the front of the vehicle. One of the team has picked the subject upothers get themselves into a backing position.The subject pulls into a filling station, the team box off and the trigger gets eyes on'.

'Standby Standby'. He's off again, into the Belfast rush hour traffic, the Bike takes over, the subject pulls into the industrial estate, parks outside the Mail Distribution Centre', dons his hi-vis vest and hardhat and calmly totally unawares of the teams activities walks in to start his days work. Another result, the subject is claiming unemployment benefit.
