There are times when it is necessary to have a car put into storage. Perhaps we are going on vacation and do not want to chance something happening to our classic car while we are gone. Or maybe we realize that it will be a while before we drive that car again and want to ensure it is preserved properly.

There are several types of classic car storage available out there. There is a more short term, usually for a few days all the way to a few months. In this type of storage the car is fired up routinely to let the battery stay charged and the fluids from depositing. At the same time, they may check for leaks or other signs of damage that may happen if a car sits to long. For instance, the belts and hoses will be tested for strength and replaced if needed. The tires kept aired up, and perhaps the car driven short distances to keep it in good running order.

Then there is the long term classic car storage. This is where all the fluids are drained from the vehicle. This on one hand keeps the car from moving, but on the other hand preserves the long term life of the car. There are extreme cases of long term storage in where belts, hoses and even tires are removed since the longer they sit idle, the better the chance of cracking and breaking there are. When it is time to retrieve the car, the items are replaced, and fluid is added. The battery is charged and off the car goes.
