A look at Nokia's new mobile phone the E5

The Nokia E5 is one of the range of messaging phones recently released by the manufacturer.

Offering a great Qwerty keypad and top drawer connectivity options, this could be the handset to bring the typical business phone to the mass market thanks to a host of other great features. Rather than focus on aspects such as design or music features, the essence of a messaging handset is really that it must boast superb connectivity options. The E5 certainly does not let us down here. When at home or in the office, the inclusion of WiFi means that the phone will automatically connect to your own personal network, thus giving you the fastest and most satisfying online experience. However, a host of other options means that even when on the move, you can keep up to date. 3G, GPRS and EDGE support are all featured on the E5. Messaging facilities are extensive, ranging from an E Mail facility that supports up to ten personal accounts to Instant Messaging services from the major providers such as Windows Live and Google Talk. A free Ovi E Mail account is also given to users courtesy of Nokia. Real time e mail updates reduces the need to log into your accounts to check your mail.

The Ovi Maps facility on the Nokia E5 means the handset is excellent as a navigational companion. Nokia offer all users free subscription to the maps facility for life, unlike other manufacturers who charge a monthly fee for such services. Thanks to the handset incorporating both GPS and A-GPS receivers, your current position on the map can be found almost instantly. A friend finder and city explore option are also available, as is a handy turn by turn option. Ovi Maps isn't the only neat addition to the E5. A Quick Office suite will appeal to the business users, offering a document viewer which can handle both PDF and Zip files. Flight Mode is handy for those travelling alot, effectively shutting down the call aspects of the phone whilst still enabling you to use various apps and features. A 5 million pixel camera takes a great quality of image and benefits from a flash as well as a zoom, ideal when the subject of your desired shot is a little out of range. You can even take photos of your friends, then pair this photo with details in your contacts list, making the display of the phone look a little more fun than many of its rival models. The Nokia E5 is certainly an impressive model. Nokia phones are synonymous with great mail and connection feature, but a host of other features make the E5 a lot more than just another messaging/business phone.
