The Nokia E5 is a new smartphone from Nokia combining excellent connectivity features with a useful full Qwerty keypad for quick and easy messaging.
Traditionally a favourite of the more business user, Nokia have packed this handset with other features which look set to broaden its appeal even further. The Nokia E5 certainly does boast some impressive features when it comes to keeping in touch via mail or messaging. Firstly, the phones ability to handle up to ten personal e mail accounts is an immeadiate attraction to people who favour this form of communication. The unit can even deliver your mail in real time, eliminating the need to log in to separate accounts in order to check your mail. Nokia also give you a free e mail account via Ovi Mail. The E5 also embraces the instant messaging community, allowing IM chat with friends via several major providers such as Window Live and Google. Both the E mail and IM facilities, along with SMS are aided by the handsets full qwerty keypad. Although not as eye catching as the button less touchscreens, this format does however provide a muck quicker and fault free alternative to text input, obviously benefiting the type of user drawn to the E5.
The Nokia E5 offers the user a good range of multi media features. For those who like to use their phone as a camera, the E5 offers a good quality snapper. Capable of capturing photographs in a 5 million pixel resolution, the camera benefits from the addition of an LED flash, making taking a photo in darker conditions a much easier task with better results. A 3X zoom feature is also included. Rather than increase the resolution of the camera, Nokia have cleverly incorporated a feature name EDoF. This stands for Extended Depth of Field and enhances the quality of the photograph substantially. Video footage can also be filmed at a rate of 15 frames per second in several qualities up to VGA. With regards to playback of audio files, the E5 is more than man enough for the job thanks to a variety of file formats being supported including MP3, eAAC+ and WMA. A headphone socket can also be found on the unit, meaning a wide variety of headphones can be chosen from to listen to your files. An FM Radio tuner is also built in. This tuner uses the headphones as an antenna and offers an alternative to listening to your own audio files. 250MB of memory is built in on the E5, however a microSD card slot allows for expansion upto 32GB. The Nokia E5 is an impressive phone. Business users will instantly be drawn to the keypad, organiser and connectivity options, but the multimedia facilities make it a viable handset for any potential customer.
