A380 in Manchester

Back in March I blogged about the A380 coming to Manchester

, well the wait is finally over and today is the day that the Emirates branded aircraft makes its debut journey from Manchester to Dubai.

This 517 seat double decker aircraft, already implemented across key airports like London Heathrow, Paris, Sydney and Dubai is to take to the Manchester skies with an arrival time today of around midday. It will then turnaround and return to Dubai at 13:30 which is to become its regular daily slot. Enquire about luxury holidays.

The Manchester service is the most northerly deployment of the A380 and features an award winning First Class cabin which features onboard shower spas.

The whole of the upper deck is dedicated to passengers travelling in premium class. Towards the front, First Class passengers can relax in one of 14 flat-bed, massage-equipped Private Suites. Sounds good! These also incorporate remote-controlled doors, a work desk, an electrically controlled mini-bar and the most advanced in-flight entertainment system ice, available to all onboard.

In Business Class, all seats have aisle access and can become fully-flat beds at the push of a button. So those 8 hours from Manchester to Dubai can be spent asleep, should you wish.

The straight walls in Economy Class give the impression of increased spaciousness, along with a 32" seat pitch which is one of the most generous on the market. Each cabin is equipped with an advanced mood lighting system, along with a starlit sky which adjusts throughout the flight to reflect the time at the destination and to help combat the effects of jet lag.

Manchester Airport's Managing Director, Andrew Cornish, said:

"The A380 is as iconic as Concorde and her introduction into Manchester by one of our most important carriers, Emirates, will provide a daily reminder that regional airports can support successful long-haul services"

I for one would love to travel on this amazing looking aircraft but for now I'll have to be content with watching it from the comfort of my front room.
