ASADA has confirmed nine athletes have tested positive for the stimulant, also known as DMAA, having alerted the athletes last night warning about taking supplements containing the substance.
Australia Commonweath Games Association CEO Perry Crosswhite also confirmed that none of the athletes competing in Australia in Delhi tested positive.
He said drug testing at the Games was carried out by the World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) guidelines are the same."I can confirm that the ASADA tested before leaving our team and certainly would have advised if any of them had tested positive before going" he said. "We have had positive results as our team in Delhi is concerned."
ASADA fear that some athletes can take the drug unwittingly, chemicals found in the bodybuilding and supplements, although there are suggestions, it is used in some parts drugs.ASADA says there is no of time about when the names of athletes will be revealed.
The Executive Director of the Authority Aurora Andruska says there is a strict legal process that must be met before the names are published. DMAA is the drug that led to the Nigerian athlete Osayemi Oludamola lose his gold medal in the Commonwealth to New Delhi games.
Under improve performance ASADA drug protocols, national sports organizations like the AFL and the NRL and Athletes are concerned immediately said a positive test on a sample.The An AFL issued a statement saying he had not received such notice of a positive test for DMAA.
NRL statement also said he was "unaware of any methylhexaneamine positive test in any of his final matches, Premier League or out of competition testing." But the NRL said it recorded a positive result DMAA under 20 levels and components are covered by an interim suspension until the case is determined.
The New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) also confirmed that it has two cases involving the same drug at lower levels including the NSW Cup.
