Anxiety can be acute, but it can also be debilitating
. It can rob you of your everyday life. It can steal your peace, joy and ability to live without terror. For some people battling anxiety is exhausting and it can lead to serious health problems. Many people with serious anxiety will feel as if everything is hopeless and that they will never return to "normal." When anxiety disorder becomes this much of a problem for a person, then it can be a good idea to start considering medical help.
A doctor will probably prescribe you some type of anxiety medications. I take donnatal for mine. Many people like to steer clear of these drugs because of the side effects. The good thing is, not all drugs will give you those terrifying side effects. Like donnatal, for example, does have side effects but not as harsh as most- a lot of the medications can make it hard for some people to even function correctly. Other conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (I.B.S.) often accompany anxiety. I have suffered from each of these for several years before I learned how to get it under control. You should work with your Dr. to find what works best for you.
If you are experiencing any of these then, you should talk to your Dr. and remember you are not alone! You can find a great deal of help by talking with others who have similar conditions. Think about joining an online group or forum or a local support group. You would be surprised how much comfort and advice you can find in sharing with others who experience your same conditions.
