, you can imagine our excitement when WaterSense, an EPA partnership program, announced that two of our amazing vendors, American Standard and Kohler, are their 2012 Manufacturer Partners of the Year.

American Standard and Kohler both made great strides this year in increasing water efficiency in their plumbing products and helped increase awareness of the WaterSense label across the country.

According to the EPA's website, WaterSense-labeled products have helped Americans save $4.7 billion in water and energy bills and 287 billion gallons of water since 2006. That's due to the efforts of more than 2,600 WaterSense partners, like our vendors American Standard and Kohler, who have brought more than 5,000 different models of WaterSense- labeled products to market and educated thousands of consumers on the benefits of WaterSense labeled products, new homes and services.

American Standard

American Standard developed a WaterSense-labeled toilet. The SAVER high efficiency toilet features a toolless install, making it easier for anyone to upgrade to a water-saving toilet. This development further spread the message of water conservation, a message that we at AAA AUGER Master Plumber also hold dear. The SAVER uses only 1.28 gallons of water, which meets the strict WaterSense certification requirements.

Last year, American Standard created the Responsible Bathroom Tour, a mobile plumbing showroom featuring water-saving fixtures and techniques. The tour visited more than 100 locations nationwide and provided hands-on demonstrations of their WaterSense-certified products. They even created a free smartphone application with water-conservation tools and information for those who missed the tour!

Kohler

Kohler was the first company to earn the EPA WaterSense Manufacturer Partner of the Year Award in 2008. The company also won WaterSense awards each year after. The AAA AUGER Master Plumber vendor, Kohler, placed their products in various high-profile projects including ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and the World Trade Center museum restrooms.

Kohler launched a notably innovative product named the Numi toilet. This luxury toilet's flush uses only 1.28 or 0.6 gallons of water! The Numi also features a hands-free opening and closing toilet seat, lighting, music and heating. No more cold toilet seats!
