Let's get started with region 1, which is the upper area of the rectus abdominal, "a large muscle that extends across your belly from the rib cage down to your hips". (Phillips, 2002-03, p. 55)Some of you would call this the upper abdominal.
Region 2 is a continuum of the upper abdominal that goes down to your pelvic area, otherwise know as your lower abdominal.
Region 3 is the muscle of the sides of your waist known as the oblique external and internal.
When conducting your abdominal training exercises, I highly recommend training in the following order start with your lower, than your oblique and then your upper abdominal. Now let's get stated with recommendation of the safest exercises for each region. Each exercise can be done in the comfort of your home.
In starting with the lower abdominal I recommend the reverse crunch (Fitzgerald), next we move toward your oblique area for the area I recommend the side crunch (Chase). If we are not too tired at this point we will conduct the Basic Crunch (Brayer) which covers the upper abdominal. These are some simple and effective abdominal training exercises, that will sharpen those abdominal when completed regular along with a proper diet and cardio training of 25-45 minutes at least three times a week.
