About An Ipod Battery Replacement

If your iPod will no longer take a charge and you want to replace the battery yourself

, you will need an Apple iPod battery replacement kit. Your only other options are to have a repair shop replace the battery or sent it back to Apple for replacement. The battery kits are rater inexpensive when you order them from the Internet. Here is how to replace the battery in your iPod. This technique to replace the battery in your iPod will work on both 4th and 5th generation iPods. In addition you can also maximize your iPods battery capacity.

Open up a gap between the back shell and the front face of the iPod with the tool that came with your Apple iPod battery replacement kit. Youl need to squeeze the iPod somewhat while you are pressing the iPod towards the side that you are attempting to put the tool in. After you have inserted the tool, carefully slide it from the top to the bottom edge of your iPod. This will release all of clips on the left side of your iPod. Continue to slide the tool around the bottom edge to the right side of your iPod.

After you have removed the back shell of your iPod, put it face down on a dry cloth and carefully lift on the back casing. Being very careful, lift the hard drive up and carefully remove the cable that connects the hard drive.

Being careful not to bend any pins on the hard drive, place the hard drive aside after you have disconnected it and youl be able to see your iPod- battery.

Put the tool for removal of the battery in the groove at the edge, and carefully apply some downwards force and try to lift the battery up. If you have any problems removing the battery, you might want to heat it up with a hair dryer to loosen the glue.

Carefully remove the battery by removing the first screw to lift up the logic board so that there is sufficient space to remove the connector and the battery. Then remove the second screw. Lift up on the edge of the logic board carefully and remove the wire that is underneath and unplug the connector from the battery.

Press the iPod replacement battery into the opening for the battery firmly and ensure that the wire is aimed properly. Place the plug in and route the wires over the top of the circuit board. Put the hard drive back in the iPod, and line the connectors up.
