About The Types Of Cooling Towers
Though the cooling towers are generally associated with the power plants
, the cooling towers are employed with various types of commercial and industrial platforms. Basically, these cooling towers offer heat removal procedure for various types of environments ranging from the residential homes to the oil refineries.
The basic cooling process of the cooling towers includes the extraction of the heat from the water cooling systems and therefore the succeeding release of the heat into the atmosphere. This method is commonly referred to as the "evaporative" heat rejection process. Usage of the cold stream of water to extract the heat is much energy and cost efficient than the dry heat rejection or the air dried method. The cooling towers can refer to both closed circuit and open circuit heat rejection equipment.

HVAC cooling towers: The name is the short form of Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning cooling tower model. It contains a water cooled chiller and a cooling tower. This system also uses the water source heat pumps to run the process.
Natural Draft cooling towers: The natural draft cooling towers use the buoyancy through the tall chimneys. Moist and warm water rise because of the density disparity compared to cooler and dry outside air.
Mechanical draft cooling towers: This type of cooling towers use the power-driven fan motors in order to draw or force the air through the cooling towers. Mechanical draft cooling towers can be of two types: forced draft and induced draft.
Cross Flow cooling towers: In the Crossflow design, the water flow is perpendicular to the flow of the water. Here, the flow of the air goes through one or more than that vertical face of the cooling tower in order to meet with the fill material.
Counterflow cooling towers: In the counterflow type of cooling tower, the water flows directly opposite to the air flow. In this type of cooling tower, water is sent out through the pressurized nozzles near the top of the cooling tower and therefore it flows downward opposite the air flow.
