. You are selling your services; therefore, you are a business. Start behaving like one. A one-person business run out of a spare room is just as legitimate a business as a Fortune 500 company.

Most of your transactions will most likely be on the business-to-business (B2B) level, and you are an equal partner in those transactions. Even if you are the only person working for your small business, give yourself a pat on the back; welcome to being an entrepreneur! Have you ever been intimidated when negotiating with a potential client because you were "just" a freelance translator, as if that were not a tremendous accomplishment? It is challenging not to be intimidated when negotiating with a company such as IBM or Target. However, the legitimacy and seriousness of a business does not depend on its size. From the customer's point of view, there are quite a lot of advantages to working with a small business.
