Uttaranchal known as an invaluable heritage is situated in the heart the of Himalayas.It is a store-house of natural beauties. Known as Dev-Bhumi (God_land) the state of Uttaranchal is famous for TOURISM as well as for Pilgrimage . According to puranas of formation of Uttaranchal state is from combination of Kedarkhand and Manskhand.It is also know as Himadri,separating high Himalayan range and Tibetan plate up to the height of 4500-7000 meter.This belt of Great Himalayan range is 15 km broad in East and West and 40km broad in middle.
Uttarakhand is also known as Devbhumi . Devbhumi started from Hridwar some people called it Hardawar . This is true both name . Haridwar mean "The door of lord Visnu(Hari) " and Hardwar mean " The door of Lord Shiva (Har) ".

Past time "Uttarakhand " divided into two part . One par was known as "Kedar Khand" other part was " Manas Khand" . In present time "Kedar Khand " is known as " Garhwal " and "Manas khand " is known as "Kumao".
Uttarakhand became the 27th state of the Republic of India on 9th November 2000. The State came out of Uttar Pradesh. Demand for Uttarakhand was first made in 1930 at the Karachi session of INC. It occupies 17.3% of India's total land area with 51,125 sq kms.
