Absorbent Pads Offer Advantages over Granules

Whether you're dealing with occasional spills in your home garage or workshop or

frequent spills at a commercial facility, absorbent pads may be a much better choice than absorbent granules.

Absorbent pads offer several advantages over granules. First, they are much, much easier to use. You simply place the correct size pad over the spill and wait for it to absorb the liquid mess. Then use a cleaner and wipe the floor dry as usual. You can either dispose of the pad, or wring it out if it's a brand that's designed for reuse.

Cleaning up a spill with granules involves much more work. Carrying a sack of granules over to the spill site requires more effort than bringing over a few pads. You will almost certainly create more of a mess throwing granules on a spill then you will by simply laying down a pad.

In order to complete the clean up, you'll need to collect every single granule on the floor including those that may have scattered during application. Some types of granules actually break down as they absorb, which creates an even bigger mess.

Regardless of what type of granules you use, they'll be heavier and more inconvenient to pick up and dispose of in comparison to absorbent pads. Consider that pads will not only absorb liquids, but retain them without dripping.

If you use granules to clean up a spill, they may fail to absorb the entire spill, or may continue to leak liquid onto whatever tools you use to clean them up. This means liquid from the spill will end up on your dustpan and broom, shop-vac or whatever other tools or equipment you use to clean up the granules.

Absorbent pads are available in different materials and sizes. This means you can choose exactly the right product for your residential or commercial spill needs. Although there are different types of absorbent granules available today, you aren't likely to find anywhere near the selection or options offered in absorbent pads.

Granules simply can't compare to pads in terms of versatility, either. When you have a box or roll of absorbent pads, you can use them for much more than spill clean up. You can place them on or beside workbenches to protect surfaces from oiled or greasy tools, or for cleaning oil off a dirty engine. Granules by contrast are only good for cleaning up spills, and possibly for providing traction on slippery surfaces.
