Abu Dhabi International Pearl Festival is one of the most important events that are taken place in Abu Dhabi

. This is an event organized by the Abu Dhabi Culture and Heritage Authority for a time period of 49 days. It is a very interesting and educative program where you get to known so many things about pearls and witness many kinds of pearls that belongs to various continents and such. It was the first of its kind to be held in Abu Dhabi on the 10th of December 2006 and was held once in every two years since then. This exhibition is hosted with the collaboration of The National Museum of Bahrain, American Museum of National History, Museum of Oman and the Pearl Laboratory of Bahrain. World most prominent Pearl jewelers would be participating in this grand event together with a rare and unique collection of exquisite pearls.

Abu Dhabi was chosen to host this event because since the olden times pearls have been a significant item in the countrys heritage and to gain back its popularity in being a global center for pearls. Their intention is to form another mode of income rather than depending on oil as a main mode of income. It is not merely an exhibition but it will also feature seminars, conferences, films, workshops, charity auctions and book launches as well. The earnings from the charity auction would be acquired by the UAE Red Crescent Society. You might notice the equipment used by divers while finding pearls, modern and ancient boats, pearls worn by royalty, and many more ornaments decorated with natural pearls are exhibited in the event.
