Accidents On The Road Increase At Christmas

The last thing you want on Christmas day is for someone to get badly injured as this would make a great day somewhat sour.

We need to take care at Christmas as there are a few potential problems on the road and at home that we need to make sure us or any of our friends and family is not involved in. On the road, there will generally be a sense of urgency about drivers as they rush to get somewhere because the last thing you want to be doing is driving around Christmas with all the traffic. This can lead to crashes which may be nothing more than a little scratch but unfortunately it can be worse.

Drink driving is a major problem at Christmas despite the numerous adverts explaining the dangers and repercussion that come with it. If you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident then you need to seek legal advice to help you take things further to see what you are entitled to. The problem, as always, comes down to who is liable for the crash. If both parties are in agreement then there are no problems but if neither party accepts liability, there are 3 things that can be done in order to come to a decision.

First of all, the insurance companies themselves are the first step and if it is clear that the driver under their insurance is at fault then they can make terms to which the other driver is paid compensation. This is the easiest way and can be settled rather quickly but it does need there to be a substantial amount of evidence in one drivers favour.

Alternatively, the case goes to the court where the court will decide who was to blame and therefore who should get any compensation. This is quite common that the case goes to court but both parties may generally be unaware of who was at fault. If this is the case and neither wants to go to court then you may get an out-of-court settlement as both drivers may be found liable.

Christmas is the worst possible time to have an accident of any kind as this will result you having to pay out money somewhere along the line. With so much money already spent on making Christmas as enjoyable as possible on presents, decorations, and food and drink the last thing you want is to have to pay out more money.
