. Greg Provenzano, Robert Stevanovski, and two twin brothers, Mike Cupisz and Tony Cupisz, founded this telecommunications company in 1993. As a direct selling business model, the sales force recruits other sales distributors and is rewarded accordingly for sales made in their downlines. Distributors also receive residual commissions as part of their incentive package. Distributors must pay nearly $500 to join ACN as a distributor and to gain access to company resources and benefits. ACN has business affiliates across globe, in North America, Asia, and Europe in more than 20 countries.

ACN's products involve digital phone connectivity with land line and voice over internet protocol and phone video service, high speed internet, wireless internet access, satellite television and business and home security networks. ACN resells wireless plans from some of the major telecommunication networks that include but are not limited to Verizon, AT & T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Dish Network. Telephone deregulation in 1996 gave ACN and other telecommunications company more freedom to compete for sales and business.

Headquartered in Concord, North Carolina, the company is closing in on a billion dollars revenue. The company made almost 2 million dollars in its first year of business, essentially fulfilling the role of a reseller for LCI Communications which was further acquired by Qwest Communications. ACN has faced its share of pyramid scheme claims. Some claim the process of making money with ACN are not made clear enough to its distributors, yet many distributors do very well. In 2006, ACN subsidiaries, ACN Energy and ACN Utility Services, were taken over by Commerce Energy Group.

ACN has garnered some impressive press in the last few years. Well-known business man and celebrity Donald Trump speaks highly of the company as one of the best multi-level, direct marketing businesses out there. The company, comprised of more than 600 employees, was featured on Trump's reality show in 2009. In Trump's show, a group of celebrities have to demonstrate their business acumen through various tasks and taking on team leader positions while attempting to work cohesively with other contestants to achieve task goals. Prize money is given to charities of contestant's choice. For the show highlighting ACN, contestants had to come up with a live performance given to 500 of ACN's employees to highlight the launch of the ACN 3000 Videophone. Employees then voted on who gave the best presentation.
