Acne Care
Those who have never suffered with acne (Zits) cannot possibly understand the stress
it causes; but there are now many treatments available which can help the condition so it is more bearable. It is not surprising then that a great deal of money has been spent on skin care treatment development; in fact many new remedies are proving very effective. The type of acne skin care product you might use would come under three general categories:
Those that help prevent the condition
Over-the-counter
Prescription: Dermatologist or Doctor, specialist cream or ointment
The preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to prevent acne from arising like skin cleansers and makeup removers. We should all use products like this to maintain our skin and prevent future problems from occurring.
There are acne skin care products that are more specialized in there approach and are formulated to reduce and limit the amount of oil in the pores of our skin. When the pores become clogged with this oil, bacteria which can cause the problem begin to grow. These skin care products are designed to prevent this from happening.
One particular skin care treatment is an exfoliation skin peel which cleans the skin and helps control the spread of the condition. These work towards removing dead skin cells, reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacteria development.
Many other acne skin care products have become available over the counter and on the internet; they don't usually require a prescription. Products that can remove the pore clogging oil contain the ingredient benzoyl peroxide; these include creams, cleansers and peels that slow down acne formation.
You should start with a product that has lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5%) and see how your skin responds. Alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are also popular as a skin care regime. As with any type of zit creams, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin. If this is proving difficult, your dermatologist should be able to help.
There are benefits of seeing your doctor or dermatologist, they can prescribe you with a prescription for treatments not available over the counter, for example a course of antibiotics. Under certain circumstances, having the infected material removed from the pores under a local anesthetic may be suggested by your dermatologist. This is something you should never attempt yourself.
Your doctor could prescribe a hormone-based treatment to treat your skin problem. Hormonal changes are known to cause acne and such skin care treatments are sometimes known to be effective. Constant research has paid off, and whilst they cannot cure the condition, it is becoming easier to treat.
