Traditional Therapy

Doctors often reserve acne laser treatment for cases where the skin condition does not respond well to traditional therapies. These traditional therapies include the topical application of creams with specific formulation aimed to control and manage the break outs and the intake of antibiotics to eliminate bacteria that may be present in the dermis. Going on a diet is also one of the treatments that are often recommended to treat mild to moderate cases. For many, these traditional therapies are agreeable and have favorable effects but for some, they might not be affected at all.

Laser and Light Therapy

Diode therapy basically gets rid of sebaceous glands below the surface of the dermis without affecting the outer appearance of the face or area where it is aimed. This is highly effective for those with sebaceous glands that produce an excessive amount of sebum. There is a degree of pain when this form of acne laser treatment is used but pain relievers can be applied or taken during and after the session to manage the discomfort. Some redness and mild swelling may be expected from this treatment but it is highly effective in controlling this specific cause of acne.

Very similar to diode therapy is pulsed light and heat energy treatment. The concept of destroying or shrinking the sebaceous glands is combined with a light that also eliminates the bacteria that is one of the contributing factors to the skin condition. The side effects are also similar to that of the diode treatment. Some redness and swelling is to be expected from it but these go away just as soon as the side effects of diode therapy do. Many consider both therapies highly effective and safe for all skin types.

Blue light procedure is one that targets the bacteria responsible for many acne cases. This low light procedure needs to be done in several sessions since the bacterium can multiply fast. The procedure is painless and may be best combined with red light therapy to maximize the positive results. Although not actually acne laser treatment, it is also another feasible procedure that yields good results.
