Acne Treatment: Learn How To Treat Acne If You Suffer From Dry Skin
People with oily and combination skin are noticeably more prone to acne problems than dry skin
, however, this doesn't mean that people with dry skin don't also suffer from acne problems. As a matter of fact, anyone that has dry skin can find effective treatments for acne, however, they need to understand that these treatments are very different than those used to treat oily and combination skin.
With dry skin, acne lesions appear under the surface of the skin. This can create itchy and painful nodules. This makes it impossible to pop a pimple, as most people usually do. In fact, any type of pressure applied to the affected area will result in widespread infection and inflammation.
Instead, treat dry skin acne with a moisturizer. This may seem senseless to most people, but when treating dry skin it is quite effective, and here's why:
The biggest problem facing people with dry skin is that it has a low level of moisture, which in essence means that it will tend to dry out more easily and therefore, produce minute cracks through which acne bacteria can enter. If you moisturize regularly and frequently, you can keep your skin supple and resistant against these small cracks.
Another great way of moisturizing your skin naturally is using an oil. Not just any oil will do, however. You can use a non-comedogenic oil. A good option is olive oil which you can gently massage into your skin.
The oil can be removed with a warm, moist washcloth. After having removed all the oil from your skin you should apply your moisturizer. This procedure is very effective in people with very dry and sensitive skin.
You can also help prevent acne and treat acne lesions by following a proper cleansing routine that includes a good acne cream. You should not try products designed for oily skin, however. Acne treatments that are designed for oily or combination skin are far too harsh for dry skin.
A regular cleansing routine will help you deal with mild and moderate acne. However, you will need to rely on a medical professional if you have severe acne. Not taking acne seriously will only worsen the problem and lead to acne scarring that will most often require acne scar removal.
Other Types of Acne Ingredients for Dry Skin
Traditional acne creams are often made with ingredients that are too harsh for dry skin. This is can be avoided by looking for products that contain more gentle ingredients such as:
-Vitamin B complex. People that suffer from acne often have a deficiency in Vitamin B5. You can treat this problem by taking supplements and looking for skin care products that contain this ingredient.
-Tea Tree Oil. Use this product by diluting it. Simply take a clean cotton ball and apply a few drops of this ingredient to moisten it, once ready, apply the moistened cotton ball to the affected area.
-AHAs. Alpha-hydroxy acids are known to help promote exfoliation. If they seem too strong for your skin, use sparingly.
