Activity Holidays For Ultimate Fun And Adventure

Here's a question for you: what would be your ideal holiday

? If you can answer that question immediately you're either very lucky of a little bit self-deluding.

For most people the response should be: 'I don't know I'll tell you when I've found it.' Now, if that sounds a bit deep it shouldn't; because the simple message here is that we don't really know ourselves until we put ourselves into personal situations and geographical locations with which we are unfamiliar.

So are you ready to take the challenge that activity holidays offer? If the answer is 'yes' then you need to start thinking differently and a good place to begin that thinking is the planning of your next holiday. If you're going to be satisfied with two weeks of sea and sand, that's fine, but why not pause to take a look at what else is out there. You might be surprised at just what you can do with your precious time away.

How do you fancy heading up into the Arctic Circle with a tour-group and experiencing dog-sledding, igloo-building and cross-country skiing? If you prefer the heat, how about trekking across the Moroccan desert by camel, making camp under the stars and sleeping in Bedouin tents?

These are just two example of the massive range of journeys, trips, adventures and tours that are to be had today. What's more no one is excluded. There are trips for families with children, couples, groups of friends and plenty of scope for people who are embarking on solo holidays.

And this last category of people is important. The old idea that going on holiday alone was, at best, a bit sad and, at worst, utterly desperate has been well and truly junked as it should have been years ago.

More and more people are deciding that solo holidays are actually the perfect way to travel. You're your own boss, you can do precisely what you want to do when you want to do it and you can go when it suits you.

There are friends to be made, of course, but, just as importantly, there are challenges to be met, too. Solo travellers are proving some of the boldest and most adventurous holidaymakers in the world but the travel firms are keeping up with their demands by creating ever more varied activities, exciting itineraries and fantastic locations.

Imagine telling your colleagues that you spent your summer break in Peru exploring the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu and kayaking on Lake Titicaca. If that sounds an impossible dream just ask yourself why that should be - and you'll realise that the impossible is anything but
