You can adjust the shelves in increments of one inch so you can fit taller things on the lower shelving by lowering or removing shelves as well. The beauty of these types of shelves also, is that you can always purchase more shelves for them if you want to add more, shorter shelves (i.e. for using them to hold paper or stackable items like this).
