Type 2 diabetes is also known by the names type 2 diabetes mellitus, non insulin dependent diabetes, adult onset diabetes or just diabetes. It is due body not processing and using carbohydrates, proteins and fats effectively.
The food we eat is converted to glucose in the liver and pass along with the blood. Diabetes is a condition when there is high amount of glucose level in the body. This glucose level is mainly due to low insulin or totally no insulin in the body.
When the insulin production is low or the receptors of the cells do not react to the insulin produced this condition is commonly referred as type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is due to insulin resistance. Here the insulin is produced excessively such that it affects its own production.
Pancreas consists of four types of cells among which the beta cells are responsible for production of insulin. 95% people who are with diabetes are type 2 diabetic. People who are above 40 years of age are the victims of type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes diagnosis
Diabetes is diagnosed by blood glucose levels. The blood test is done after fasting overnight. The normal range should be in between 70 to 100 mg/dL. If the blood glucose level is higher than 125mg/dL than person is diagnosed with diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes if ignored it affects the various parts of the body.The diabetes complication are
Neuropathy: The longest nerves in the body that are in the legs are damaged first and this causes numbness in feet and tingling in feet. The diabetes also affects other functions of the body like digestion, urination and sexual function.
Foot issues: Sores appear on foot. This is mainly due to neuropathy that causes numbness in feet. Irritation in skin and break down of skin causing ulcers. Blood circulation is low leading to slow wound healing.
Nephropathy: Kidneys are damaged due to high blood sugar levels.
Retinopathy: The blood vessels which are at the back of the eyes are damaged due to high blood glucose level. The damage can be minimized by controlling blood sugar levels. In ignored cases a person can suffer complete blindness.
The good thing about type 2 diabetes is that it can be avoided and controlled unlike type 1 diabetes. In type 1 diabetes insulin injections are must. Type 2 diabetic people need to take part in physical activities and eat food which is rich in fiber content.
