Advantages & Disadvantages Of Infrared Barbeque
The market is today filled up with all sorts of culinary appliances which have made cooking a lot easier task
. Earlier barbeques meant long hours of cooking and a constant check on the heat. But with the introduction of the infrared grills, there has been a sea change in the cooking techniques.
For lot many years the infra red technology was used as curing process for paints and dyes. With the advent of the infrared grills, commercial cooking at the restaurants and high-end food joints saw a sea change. But due to its reasonably high cost, it was not affordable to the homemakers.
This innovative creation is the baby of Bill Best - founder of TEC gas grills and the one person responsible for the patent that was placed on the first infrared gas burner in 1961. The very monopoly of the Thermal Electrical Corporation kept it away from the retail consumers. But after the expiry of their patents, many other manufacturers started producing these grills.
Some of the grills which used to cost 4000 dollars are also available for 400 dollars now. There is much more accessibility to the product today.
Grills using the infra red technology have been used for commercial cooking for so many decades now and the distinctive feature about this gadget is that it creates juicy and tasty meals from any type of fish or meat. Many well known chefs prefer to use these grills, instead of the conventional charcoal or gas-fueled ones. Such grills and barbeques offer cooking comfort which is not matched by any other appliance of the same class and category.
Even though the infrared grills are a boon for the chef, yet they can also become the bane of novices if not handled properly. There are always advantages and some related disadvantages of any product. And this device is no exception to that.
Advantages of Infrared Grills:
Time & Energy Conserved: The heat intensity of the grill helps in faster preparation of food which in turn saves time as well as fuel.
Tastier Food: It is said that due to the intense and even distribution of the heat, the coked food tastes more delicious than prepared otherwise. The special concave shape of the grill preserves the juices and moisture of the food product making it taste better.
Less Messy: These grills are a lot less hassle free and easy to use. Cleaning them is also not much of a task. Even though the grills are concave yet the juices that drip upon the grill get burnt immediately due to the intensely high heat. This makes for a less sticky grill and is thus easy to clean.
Equal Distribution of Heat: This gadget uses a ceramic tile for heating which has thousands of pores in it. This helps in the even distribution of the heat and a better cooking experience.
Better Quality Material: These kinds of grills are made of stainless steel which is a better option than the conventional iron grills. This has a much better look and works better as well.
Disadvantages of Infrared Grills:
Unavailability of Lower Heat Mechanism: The infrared burner doesn't have the option of lower heating mechanism. One would have to buy another cooking source for lower temperature recipes.
Overcooked Food: While cooking food on an infrared grill, one needs to constantly check for the timer or else the food might get over cooked which in turn would spoil the basic essence of the dish.
Health Hazards: Over cooked food may have an adverse effect on the health of the person consuming the food. High heat can also cause accidental burns if not handled with care.
Cost Effectiveness: Infrared Grills are not as low-priced as one would like to think. They are still a product which is used by the high-end class of people and not commonly found at mid-range income dwellings.
Thus the infrared grills which are much in demand today have both its pros and cons. But one thing is for sure this technology has changed the face of culinary art and cuisines for ever.
