The hill county of Munnar stands out among the many adventure spots in the state for its picturesque valleys and mountains, expansive tea plantations and aromatically spiced air. From trekking, biking and paddling to a houseboat cruise in the backwaters, Kerala has much to offer.

Trekking:-For those who prefer the wilderness, a few hours of trekking in the Periyar Tiger Reserve should be exciting. And the occasional spotting of wild animals such as sambar, elephants, deer etc. only adds to the attraction of the place. Picnickers who fancy staying a tree house or trekking to the peak of Chembra, Wynad is an interesting place to visit. When in the hills of Munnar, visitors can enjoy a range of treks including one to Meeshapulimala.

Paddling:-Vacationers can take the opportunity to enjoy a great paddling holiday when exploring the backwaters of Kerala. There are three main types of paddling on offer namely Backwater Kayaking, White water Rafting and River Kayaking. Alleppey and Kumarakom are known for Backwater Kayaking while Thattekkad alongside the river Periyar is suitable for River Kayaking. The more adventurous kind can brace them for White water Rafting at Boothathankettu.

Biking: - Tourists who love staying in action can hit the roads of Kerala on two wheels. Making their way through plantations and villages, Munnar has lots to offer to bike lovers. If they must, they can also enjoy a ride through Periyar while backwater biking enables travelers to get familiar with fishermen villages as they journey through the canals.

Houseboat Cruising:-Visitors to Kerala who prefer adventure without really getting in the midst of an outdoor trip can book themselves or houseboat cruising. The journey allows travelers to venture into the peaceful backwaters in the state.
