Some of the famous national parks are Ranthambore national park, Jim Corbett, Bandhavgarh, Periyar, kaziranga, sunder bans, Gir wildlife sanctuary and many more. Exploring some of these will give you a fantastic feeling, to peep into the lives of these innocent living beings is simply amazing.
Sunder ban in west Bengal is a famous tourist zone which attracts many. The vast swampy delta of the two great Indian rivers, Brahmaputra and the Ganges extends over areas comprising of mangrove forests, swamps and Forest Island all interwoven in a network of small rivers and streams. It is the home to the royal Bengal tigers. The sunder bans is only accessible through boats. One can also come across snakes, fishing cats and crocodiles. Tourists love to be a part of this unique experience. Kaziranga national park in Assam is another world famous wildlife sanctuary. It is famous for the rare species of one-horned rhinoceros. It also provide shelter to elephants, wild water buffalo, swamp deer, Indian muntjac, wild boar, hog deer, gaur, sambhar, Assamese masque, capped and golden langur, hoolock gibbon and many more.
Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka is situated at the meeting point of the Deccan plateau and the Western Ghats. It was designated as a Tiger reserve under the Project Tiger in 1973. It is a home to the various kinds of wildlife species such as Asiatic Elephant, Gaur (Indian Bison), Leopard, Chital and Sambar. The avian population is represented by the Peafowl, Partridge, Quail, Hornbill and Ibis. Apart from these, Dholes (wild dog), Sambar, Barking Deer, Giant Squirrel, Sloth Bear and Nocturnal Porcupine are some of the exotic species found in the park.
Keoladeo national park is situated in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. It is a world famous bird sanctuary which houses the rare bird species. Earlier it was a maharajas hunting zone but today it is a protected national park. One can have a glimpse of Siberian crane, warblers, red kite, vulture and many other bird species. One would simply love the aura of the place with the melodious chirruping of the bright and colorful birds. There are national parks in Andaman and Nicobar Islands as well. In the reef island, one can be lucky to get the sight of some rare migratory birds.
India is a mixture of many things and this variety of fauna makes this country more wealthy.
