Advertising through Social Network Sites by:John Pennington

If run your own business, perhaps as an affiliate working from home

, or in network marketing, have you thought of using social network sites to get your message across?

Hi, my name is John Pennington, and I provide free help to new affiliates through the Affiliate School site at http://affiliate-school.blogspot.com/

This site is a self-help resource where we share (for free) ideas on Internet marketing, for people who want to start a business, working from home. Many of my students have been asking lately whether I have had experience and success with advertising through the many social network sites; and as a matter of fact, I have.

One of our contacts runs the Hov Pod affiliate program. Hov Pod manufacture small 3 man hovercraft which travel over any flat surface at speed, i.e. water, sand, mud, ice, snow etc. As a unique niche product, with scope for showing images and posting videos on You Tube, it is a pretty neat affiliate product. Hov Pods sell for a few dollars, so the affiliate program pays very generous commissions, but let me get back to the point of this article.

Hov Pod have a dealer in Australia who recently ran a charity event in support of the victims who suffered devastating damage during the recent bushfires. The charity event provided free hovercraft experience rides in return for charitable donations. This was advertised on FaceBook through http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=64584463775

The event was really well attended, it seems that every FaceBook member in the area had a go, and so did some of their friends. It might just be that hovercraft are a niche product - everyone seems to love hovercraft rides, especially when they fly from land to water and back without stopping. However, the event was a great success, everyone had a great time, and guess what, everyone took loads of pictures. And they chipped in hundreds of dollars to the Bush Fire Appeal.

It was only a few days later that it dawned on the dealer why he was suddenly getting a lot more contact through his website, especially from people wanting hovercraft rides. Increased interest might have been expected, since everyone had a good time, and word probably got around through word of mouth. But the surge in interest kept increasing, how come?

It seems that FaceBook and other social network site members love to post images to show their friends what they have been up to. A good proportion of people who attended the event appear to have posted images showing their kids having a good time on the hovercraft. This is where we have to consider the maths, never my best subject at school, but one that I have got better at since Google started paying me lots of commission cheques (read my articles on affiliate marketing through my website)

If 200 people attended the event, and just 10% (20) posted images on their FaceBook site, as a rough average, they may have 200 friends or contacts who know them on FaceBook. That is 4000 people. If just 10 percent of 4000 people also want to have a go on the hovercraft, you get 400 customers. If just 10% of 400 people also have a go on the hovercraft, post images on FaceBook, those 40 people know 8000 people. Pretty soon, one heck of a lot of people want to have a go on the hovercraft, and after everyone has had a go, if only 10% post images on FaceBook, you got it, word really gets out to high numbers of people, and it didn't really cost anything, free advertising.

Here's another little gem of a tip to increase your wealth and sense of well-being. On my Affiliate School website you will find a Share Button gadget. Test this button and try it out to tell people about Affiliate School through your social network website, and email everyone you know in your email address book. Once you have tested the button, sign up to Affiliate School, and I will explain to you how to make a free website like mine and add these Tell a Friend buttons, so you too can start receiving commission cheques from product manufacturers and Google - help me to help you!

As I try to point out to my students at Affiliate School, if you really want to make money and gain financial security through marketing on the Internet, you can either do it the hard way like I did, or get rewards quickly by taking free advice. Affiliate school provides a shared resource of excellent tips, with no sign up fee to put you off. No excuses now! More money can be made through niche product marketing with products that people are genuinely interested in, rather than by trying to sell products like ring-tones and mobile phones that everyone else sells. I will provide the tools and knowledge to help you started - just make a donation after I prove to you how simple affiliate marketing really is.

If you really want to start a home-based business working from home, take my advice; for free! More info about the Hov Pod Affiliate program at http://wfh-am.blogspot.com/ (see link to recommended affiliate program)
