Time passes and the tattoo starts to fade, along with the original idea of having it done in the first place. Regret is a common emotion for wanting to have tattoos removed. Getting a tattoo was once a great idea that has now become an eyesore, and the idea of getting rid of it seems a lot more sensible. Certain employers frown upon visible tattoos, not to mention girlfriends or boyfriends who move on and start new relationships, yet they still have a tattoo reminding them of an old flame, a flame that needs to be treated with a laser.

Laser tattoo removal is one of the most effective ways to erase body art. Many people choose this procedure, as opposed to other methods such as excision, dermabrasion, or salabrasion. The excision process involves having the tattoo surgically removed, and then the area is stitched up for proper healing. Dermabrasion is a process by which the tattooed area is frozen and then sanded away, which causes the skin to bleed. Salabrasion is performed with the sanding method as well, and a mixture of tap water and table salt is used on the skin beforehand.

The laser tattoo removal process is much more advanced. A laser beam is applied to the colored portions of the skin, thus breaking down its pigment. Over time, usually a few weeks, the skin cells react to the treated area. Sometimes the treatment is repeated, depending upon the size of the tattoo and the individual's response to the procedure. Laser tattoo removal is less painful, easier, and more effective than the old fashioned methods.
