Affiliate marketing is an great way to make money onlineif you do it right

. It's also a great way to starve to death if you do it wrong.

You are not going to make money as an affiliate marketer putting up poor quality websites with duplicate content. This is especially true if you are going to do any type of marketing based on ranking on Google for keywords relating to the niche your site is in.

I've seen a lot of affiliate marketers complaining about the constant updates Google has been making to their algorithms recently. Affiliate marketers have been hit especially hard because many of them have thrown up sites filled with duplicate content, used questionable techniques to get backlinks to rank their sites for, and repeated this process hundreds or thousands of times.

That certainly is not what Google wants, and if you step back and think about it that is really not providing value to your audience. This drives home the point that as an affiliate marketer you need to learn to build quality unique sites or you are not going to survive online very much longer.

How do you know if content is unique? Did you create it yourself, or did you purchase it from someone? There's nothing wrong with hiring a content writer, but make sure that person knows you are going to check their work before you pay them.

Niche marketing works even if you have competitors. There's still plenty of ways to make money in affiliate marketing even if other people have already created unique sites promoting a certain product.

No 2 Internet marketers are going to view things exactly the same. Plus there are plenty of things you can do to make your site different than the competition. Google understands this and is not going to punish you if you build websites that have unique content and have your own way of presenting it.

One thing you can do is add photographs to your site. As your site grows this may become a problem and you can consider doing other things such as adding unique videos.

Think about things you can do that are more difficult than just writing an article. One thing I can think of off the top my head is linking to authority sites.

This takes a little bit of effort to do some research and find. Google loves it when you do this. Set the link up so it opens into a new page. When your website visitor is done cliques, and click off the page, they're brought back to your original site. This way you're not totally losing the visitor.

The important thing to understand here is is you must build unique quality websites if you are going to survive in affiliate marketing. Put a little thought into them by adding more pages as you develop the site. In the long run your sites will maintain their rankings longer, and your income will benefit from it.
