Affiliate Marketing Tips - The Snowball Effect

There is an old saying in the world we live in

. Success breeds success. In the case of affiliate marketing, this is more true than you could possibly imagine. My own history as an affiliate marketer proves that this is true. In this article, I'm going to talk about the snowball effect and how it works once you've reached the point where you're actually having some success as an affiliate marketer.

Like it or not, it's not so much what you know but who you know. It's like this in any business. I remember when I was in the songwriting business that it wasn't until I made some good contacts that I started to have at least a little success. Even though I never did have that hit record, I made it a lot farther than others because of the people I met. To this day, I am very grateful to them. But what does this have to do with affiliate marketing?

When I first started out as an affiliate marketer, I was a nobody. But with my first product, one that I sold 25 to 30 units a month of right out of the gate, I began to get recognized by other marketers. They wanted to know who this Steven Wagenheim was and how he was making such a killing with this product. Eventually, product creators started to contact me to ask me if I would promote THEIR product. Today, I get these requests almost daily and have to turn down most of them as there are only so many hours in the day.

The important point is, most of these requests come with incentives to promote their product, such as a higher commission percentage than other affiliates, or first crack at promotion before the product goes live. These are things that can give you a strong advantage when promoting a new product. I mean imagine being one of the first ones to promote the next big thing. Certainly you are going to get your share of sales just because you ARE one of the first.

So where am I going with this? Simple...work hard to become successful with your affiliate marketing efforts. Learn all you can about how to be an affiliate marketer. Once you begin to have some success and make a bit of a name for yourself, you'll find that product owners will approach YOU with their new release and you'll get a jump on everybody else.

This is what I call the snowball effect.

And it works darn good.
