but it is equally important for them to partake in some fun activities as well. Of course, time is always spent helping with homework and eating dinner as a family but playing is an essential part of improving and maintaining strong child parent relationships.

Unfortunately, the economy has severely impacted the ability for parents and children to spend time doing fun things however; there are many fun and inexpensive ways that can make you play together while keeping your paycheck to pay your bills.

A Day in the Park

You can plan an action-packed day filled with fun and play at the park. Take your kids and family to a different and hopefully bigger park in a surrounding community. It will change the typical experience. This will keep the outing fresh and avoid boredom.

Working parents should be sure that they have the day off to prevent the kids from being disappointed. Being a good parent, you should always look for positive parenting techniques.

Prepare for a Picnic

You would surely need to feed the family lunch even if you simply stayed at home so for your outing, youll need to pack a lunch. Many families create an old fashioned type of picnic lunch complete with checkered tablecloth, fried chicken and potato salad.

Others prefer to make a batch of sandwiches and enjoy each others company at a picnic table. The food really doesnt matter though; its the fellowship and bonding between parents and children that does.

Fun for a Dollar

It doesnt take a lot of money to get new toys for your outing. You should take a few minutes to visit your local dollar store. Working parents can even handle this task on their lunch hours or bring the kids in the evening and let them help to pick out some great items. Dollar stores usually carry a wide variety of toys, outdoor games and other seasonal items so you are sure to find some good things for the excursion.

You can pick up a wiffle bat and ball set. Then, you will not only have fun but get exercise too! Parents and children will also bond while playing. Some other great items are plastic horseshoe sets, Frisbees and even water guns or water balloons. At one dollar per game set, you can have plenty of fun, be active and build better relationships between parents and children.

Tons of Fun for Free

You really dont have to spend a penny to play with your kids and have a great time at the park. For the most part, community parks offer really nice playgrounds for families to enjoy. You should encourage your kids to try all of the equipment, provided that it would be age appropriate for the children.

It is even more important to use several pieces of playground equipment for children of working parents as both parents and children tend to get less exercise than kids who have a stay at home parent.

Be sure to take a walk around the track or better yet, have a race. Should there be a lake or pond at the park, bring some stale bread and feed the ducks or even the birds. There are plenty of cheap and fun things for parents and children to do at the park.
