Aging And Loneliness

As world population is growing day in and day out

, people are getting more and more aloof from one another. Younger people are busy in their studies; adults are busy in their career building while the married couples are nursing their kids. It is the aging people who are passing a retiree's life where they are forced to pass their lives in perfect loneliness.

Loneliness in Old Age

Old age is felt even more when one is left alone with or without his or her partner. If the partner is alive, life will be a little better with some flavor. Otherwise, life will totally be without any charm as the old man has no one to share his ideas with. Children are away at their homes and they are also busy with their kids. They have no resources of income where they have to rely on the very allowance that they get from the government, the pension, or any investment return. They have nothing to care about and none to talk about. They are not only unaided but they are also suffering from solitude. So, old age and loneliness seem to be inseparable to each other in the present age when we are experiencing increased breakage in the family system.

Away From Children

Old people feel loneliness as they have to live away form the children with whom they had passed their lives with. These children now have become independent where they are living away from them. Most of the families in the USA are living in this way now, as the combined family system is deteriorating. So, the elderly people and their loneliness are quite certain to happen.

Elderly Loneliness Statistics

The statistics of the U.S. Census Bureau show that almost 10 million US elderly citizens of above 65 are suffering from solitude and elderly problems. They suffer from the pangs of isolation where 16% of suicidal cases are coming from the people who were above 65 years of age. These statistics reveal that loneliness in elderly people lead them to boredom, monotony, tedium, and lack of self-confidence. The purpose of life remains with them no more where they feel themselves to be worthless.

Virtual Technology

Here comes the usage of virtual technology to bridge the gap of long distances. The use of computing devices like PC, Mac, Tablet, mobile phone, virtual conference, and use of VoIP technology may be used to have a live conference and a virtual call to the children. In this manner, the senior loneliness may be removed to some extent. This way, some of the distress of the elderly people may easily be removed where they may be led to please themselves. Most of their solitude problems may easily be resolved where they will start feeling equal to the occasion with the world.

Seniors' loneliness has been a topic of discussion among the masses as the number of such elderly persons is increasing day by day. They have to remain away from their children for the remaining life so it's better for them to make use of the latest technology to go for their happiness and, thus, remain away from it.
