Many cruisers actually reside on their vessel, which means they have already gone through the downsizing process prior to their extensive voyaging. However, there are also a great many empty-nesters who opt to begin checking things off of their bucket list (including sailing around the world!) but are just not yet ready to get rid of all of their belongings. Certainly, there are those Old Man and the Sea curmudgeons, who choose to purge all possessions unnecessary to a life at sea, but the majority of folks who travel still like to keep the treasures that filled their lives for so many years. Additionally, as these cruisers travel to exotic locales, they may just find themselves adding to their collections instead of purging them. When they return to their home port, they know they have extra space to store their one-of-a-kind finds! They will have peace of mind that what they leave in self storage will be protected and undisturbed until they return to retrieve it in a few months or a few years! And, if these cruisers do eventually run out of roomthey can always rent another storage unit!
