Air Phone NO1 Slim iPhone Look Alike – Quick Review
Air Phone NO1 Slim iPhone Look Alike Quick Review
Among the phones most likely to be cloned, iPhone is far and away the one most likely. So in an attempt to grab your attention, the Air Phone NO1 makers have come out with the thinnest one ever made. How does it measure up though to the crowd?
Thin is very much the name of the game for the Air Phone NO1. And thin it is (with a thickness of only 8mm or 0.31 inches). This phone however that a few standard features seen so often in clone iPhones had to be skipped. This isn't to say that it still remains a pretty nice phone (which it is for a clone), but more that this lack of standard extra clone phone features one has come to expect might be a bit of a negative.
Here's the basic overview of the Air Phone's specs.
It the thinnest iPhone clone to have ever been released at only 8mm (0.31 inches) thick.
It is a PDA style touchscreen phone (with icons and a virtual QWERTY keyboard for input.
The phone's total weight, including a installed battery, is 140 grams.
Phone measurements total: Length-114 Width-62 Height-8 mm.
Like the iPhone, this phone has a battery preinstalled that can not be removed or changed without first opening it up.
The size of the screen is a largish 3.5 inches, has a resolution of 320x480, and is TFT.
The phone is quad band unlocked, meaning it can be used on any of the 4 GSM networks used all over the world.
It has only 1 SIM card port, which is built into the side of the phone.
CE quality PCP plastic is used in the construction of the phone.
You can insert a standard 2.5mm earphone into a earphone jack built into the case.
Internet on the mobile phone comes via EDGE networks, GPRS and WAP 2.0, as well as Wi-Fi B/G hotspots.
On standby, the battery should normally last 50~70 hours.
The phone comes java enabled, which means you can freely install java apps or games to flesh out the already installed apps.
The phone's media options includes Skype + MSN chat programs, a MP3/ MP4 player, a camera/camcorder combo, an eBook reader, an analog TV, and a FM radio.
User's of the Air Phone NO1 will be getting these pros and cons should they choose to buy one:
Pros
The casing design of the phone is very thin, and is in fact quite a bit thinner than the iPhone it is based on (0.46 inches vs 0.31 inches), yet still feels solid and not at all plasticy in .
The screen is both large and colorful, with a very nice resolution.
Its MP3 and MP4 player is easy to use and to add extra media to, and the 2.5mm earphone jack is also a nice addition in case you ever need to change out earphones for a new or better one (since 2.5mm earphones are much more available than proprietary ones that are often seen in phones).
Since the SIM card port is built into the side rather than the back under the phone's cover, changing out and installing the SIM card is much easier.
Accessing the internet on the phone using Wi-Fi hotspots, or on the EDGE network, was quite easy and was reasonably speedy.
Cons
Not having the ability to change out batteries is one of the biggest gripes for the iPhone, and this phone suffers the same problem (even though it is understandable seeing as a removable back would mean a thicker phone).
iPhone clones generally come with dual SIM ports, but this phone does not (which may or may not be a selling point for many users).
It is sadly lacking in pre installed apps. It is annoying to have to download and install more apps when many of these come standard on many of the other iPhone clones.
Those looking for a really thin phone on a budget, or those who are in the market for a iPhone clone really should consider giving the Air Phone NO1 a try. giving the Air Phone NO1 a try.
