The model Nikki and Em Watts end up in freak accident that knocks Em cold and when she wakes up, all she sees in the mirror is Nikki Howard. The top secret surgical process has been performed because the doctors wanted to save the body of one and the brain of the other girl. The moment the brain transplant secret is revealed, her parents stand the risk of being slapped a suit of $2m. The story gets complicated hereafter as Em also has to complete school as Nikki, and the question also remains how can Christopher comes to terms with the fact that though Emma's body is gone, she is still around in the form of Nikki. The love square forms which will become clear only after you read the book.

The fact that Meg Cabot is a popular writer is an understatement. When people say she is barking mad, it simply means they want her to come up with another book on Em Watts. Nikki Howard is the top teen model of America and has a completely different personality than Em Watts. Those who are looking for logic in the story may argue whether brain transplant is possible or not, they may do well to remember this is only a sci-fi plot and an interesting read at that.

Airhead Is Charming and Out of the World

Overall, Meg Cabott has come up with another charming and out of the world story, which is full of witty one-liners. Em refuses to follow the latest fashion trends and sticks to just jeans and T-shirt. Em Watts is a loveable character and the predicament that she undergoes is exciting and scary at the same time. Airhead by Meg Cabot is only the first book in the series so some plot details have deliberately been left for later books.

Em Watts Can't Come Out

There is some mystery in Airhead by Meg Cabot as well, such as why Em Watts can't come out in the open. Nikki's friends do believe her crazy brain transplant story but they are also clueless about what to do next. The story also has an element of love because Em Watts is in love with her best friend Christopher, she has never told him about it.
