Akshaya Patra Foundation: Are You Donating To The Right Charity?

Due to a number of competing charity groups across the world

, it has become difficult for one to decide the legitimate group for donation. This is because many times the donated amount is not spent properly due to monetary mismanagement or other issues.

Have you ever donated to a charity before? Did you wonder where the money was going? Did you take the time to research the charity before you gave them your money? Do you know what is required before you can claim your donations as a tax deduction? Are you afraid to donate to charities for fear of it being a scam?

It can be very hard to decide which charity to make a donation. There are so many different charities available. How do you tell which are legitimate charities, and which are just scams. Would you know the signs of a fake charity? Many people do not know, and they lose their money.

So Akshaya Patra wants to share few points with you

On 28 November 2001, the Supreme Court of India passed an order mandating "Cooked midday meal is to be provided in all the government and government-aided primary schools in all the states."

Responding to this, we set forth to empower and enable underprivileged children by providing them with food for the body, mind and intellect.

We are happy to state that we have achieved our earlier mission of feeding 1 million children by 2010, in early 2009. We continue to reach out to more and more children, giving each one the equal opportunity to unlock their true potential. We now aspire to reach out to 5 million children by 2020.

Madhu Pandit Dasa the chairman of Akshaya Patra initiated the Akshaya Patra program to provide mid-day meals to underprivileged children in the Government schools of Bangalore Rural District during July 2000.
