Alabama Knocks Mccoy And Texas Out Of The Bcs Championship Game

Last night had all the makings of being one of the greatest National Championship

football games since 2005 when Vince Young led the Texas Longhorns to a stunning upset over the mighty USC Trojans that featured Heisman winners Matt Lienart, and Reggie Bush.

On the Fifth play of the game McCoy was tackled from behind by Alabamas massive defensive lineman Marcell Dareus and never returned to the game. Even though Texas defense played their hearts out five offensive turnovers doomed the Longhorns chances of wining the championship game.

For Alabama they stuck to what they do best, run the ball. Alabama only had 58 passing yards all game but was able to amass over 200 yards rushing behind theyre two headed running attack. Heisman winner Ingram led the Crimson Tide with 116yards rushing and two touchdowns, only seven more yards than backup Trent Richardson who ran for 109yards and another two touchdowns. For defenses across the nation be ready next year as both running backs will be back next year as Ingram is only a sophomore and Richardson is a freshman.

Even though Texas lost McCoy early in the game they put up a good fight coming back from a 24-6 halftime deficit to get within three points behind freshman super recruit quarterback Garrett Gilbert who committed five turnovers but did his best considering the circumstances. Once Gilbert started putting the ball into the hands of All American wide receiver Jordan Shipley who finished with 10 catches for 122 yards, and two touchdowns the Longhorns started coming back. But late forth quarter turnovers cost Texas the game and sealed the deal for the Crimson Tide with a final score of 37-21.

For Alabama it was their first National Championship since 1992, and the second for head coach Nick Saban who led his team to perfect 14-0 season in just his 3rd year at the helm.
