All About Art Deco Interior Design

Art deco interior design is hardly a new concept

, but one that seems to crop up at just the right time. It is rooted back in the mid to late 1920's and is based on French designs. It is actually quite ironic that something that was so well received then and that is having a revival now has its beginning from a country that is held suspect by many citizens of the United States.

While it may have had a short life after first being introduced, it is making a much better impression the second time around. Being "reborn" in the 1980's, art deco interior design is quickly becoming the most sought after design style around. For proof, you need only look at one of the more popular playgrounds for adults in the U.S., South Beach Miami, Fla.

There are buildings such as the Chrysler building that are a perfect example of the influence that art deco had at the time. However, while buildings such as that are incredible, art deco interior design seems to have taken on a new life in modern times. Advancements in equipment and technology have allowed designers to take this style of design and architecture to the next level.

One would think that art deco was just possibly ahead of its time when it was first introduced. While people were looking for something different and exciting in the late 20's, the times that followed just about dictate the demise of this style of design and architecture. It was almost as if the modernized shapes and colors were deemed disrespectful of the trying times the country experienced in the 1930's.

Today, people are finally realizing how truly spectacular art deco is. It is almost as though a room or a building actually comes to life when art deco is the theme. When people pass by a building or walk into a room that is done in art deco it is as though their entire mood is changed to reflect the feeling of the design.

If you are worried that the bright pastels of South Beach are not exactly what you had in mind, you can rest assured that art deco interior design is not "just" about the colors. It is the shapes and how they combine that makes this style so spectacular. When looking for an interior design that will have people sitting up and taking notice, you need look no further than art deco.
