All About Becoming A Professional Hair Dresser
The career of a hairdresser has the excitement of meeting new people every day
. In a salon, an established hairdresser will enjoy the privilege of rubbing shoulders with the elite as well as the hoi polloi! It is in this salon that the hairdresser will bask in the glory of a person who has the ability of transforming the mien of his/her clients in a very short time provided that person also has the necessary skills. So, if you want to
become a hairdresser, the first quality you must possess is that of creativity. You must also have a great deal of patience, good communication skills and the inherent ability to listen. For a skilled hairdresser, there is no limit to the amount of money that can be made and one will never be out of jobs. There are no entry requirements for a hairdresser and there is no limitation regarding the age. However, in order to become a hairdresser, one has to acquire skills by doing courses and achieving certain basic degrees in the course of ones training.
Hairdresser training consists of achieving the required qualification for hairdressers. This qualification is the NVQ Certificate or Diploma in Hairdressing/Barbering/Combined Hair Types. In order to become a senior stylist, one has to go through 3 different NVQ levels. The first level is meant for those who wish to be an assistant to a hairdresser. The second level is for those who want to be junior stylists while the final and third level is for those who have one of the earlier qualifications and wish to be senior stylists.
There are several colleges and training centres throughout the UK where one can train to be a hairdresser. These institutions offer different training options in
hairdresser courses. One can study in a full time course to become a hairdresser or alternately find the kind of course wherein one can train part-time while also being involved in other commitments. Depending on whether one studies part or full time, one can gain the NVQ Certificate in between one and two years. Hairdressing industry does not recognise recession. Any time is good time therefore to start a career in hairdressing whether you want to work in a salon, have your own salon or be a trainer.
