All About Sim Cards

A Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card is defined as a chip that is used to securely

store the authentication of any person on the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI). A SIM card is a removable chip that is inserted into telephony devices and can be transferred if necessary. A SIM card is used to authenticate a person by providing an identity so that that person can connect with others.

A SIM card is an integrated circuit on which the authentication identity of the person who purchases the SIM card is embedded on the chip by using the technology of embedded systems. SIM cards are available in four different sizes which are full, mini, micro and embedded. When the full-size SIM card was first invented it was huge and was the same size as a credit card.

Later on, a new version of a SIM card was invented, which was named the mini SIM card. This SIM card was distributed to customers in the form of a full-size SIM card by attaching the mini SIM card with some truncation. These SIM cards can be used in devices using the full-size SIM cards and mini-size SIM cards, by simply breaking the attachments from the full-size carrier. SIM cards are also classified in different categories depending on their consuming voltage. The different operating voltages of SIM cards are 5V, 3V and 1.8V and they are named as class A, class B and class C, respectively.

The wireless voice service is the main operation of the SIM card, which is used to transfer a voice signal between two users by the use of telephony devices. The SIM card, when inserted into a mobile phone, sends voice signals from the transmitting device situated in the mobile phone through radio waves.

The messaging service of the SIM card is the most widely used service across the globe. This service is known as Short Message Service (SMS). SMS is commonly used for presenting information among users. This service is processed by simply typing a short message from your mobile phone and sending it to the other user.

The data services of the SIM cards are defined as the process of transferring digital information between two users. The technology used is circuit switched data and packet switched data. With a SIM card, one can transfer data using mobile phones.
