All You Should Know About The Top Three Private Golf Courses In The Nation

Some of the most elite clubs available to date are the United States private clubs

. These clubs restrict their admittance to members exclusively, and usually have a tiny, select group of members. The best three private greens in the states are grouped here.

Augusta National Golf Club

Augusta National Golf Club has been ranked by Golf Digest as the greatest course in all of the US. Found in Georgia, it is the host of the highly anticipated PGA Master's Tournament every year. It has been astonishing golfers with its traditional Southern charm ever since 1933. Though, the course is not without its controversy. The private golf course has roughly 300 members. There is no membership application to the club, as membership is by personal invitation strictly. Years ago, the course had requirements for all caddies to be black, and did not allow black members until 1990. Today, no women have been asked to be members of Augusta National Golf Club. These concerns have pressed several males to rescind their membership, and even urged the Olympic Games Committee to check whether or not the game meets all of the Olympic ethics of being a friendly, inclusive game.

Pine Valley Golf Club

Pine Valley Golf Club is known as the second-best club in all of the United States by Golf Digest. It was founded in 1913 in New Jersey by amateur golfers. This club is also invitation only and will not permit female members, though, women are allowed to accompany members as visitors on Sunday. The golf course is renowned for holes like "Hell's Half-Acre," a bleak stretch on the seventh hole which is really testing.

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club

Third ranked on Golf Digest's list is Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southhampton on Long Island, NY. The club was dreamed up by US business moguls in the late 19th century. Developed on Native American land, the course is open to a land dispute. The place is also on the US National Register of Historic Places. Shinnecock Hills was one of the first courses to permit females to golf, having a different women's course until 1901. To this day, it is known as a get together place of the elite.

Playing Golf at a Private Club

While not all may have the opportunity to be inducted to a private club, or have enough money for the membership payments, playing at these greens is the hope of some golf enthusiasts. Inspite of their choosiness, or even because of it, these clubs have landed their way to the top of America's golf rankings.
