There isn't a soul alive who does not like discounts. And why not! If you can get more for less, you are bound to appreciate the option.
When we get something at a reduced price we aren't bothered about the reason for the reduction in the price. The lowering of price can happen at the manufacturer or the retailer level. If the manufacturer has reduced the price it will be printed on the product. If it is the retailer offering the price reduction then an additional price tag bearing the discounted price can be found on the product.
Why Are Discounts Given?
The most popular reason for discounts is stock clearance. Out of date or old stock has to be sold to make room for new stuff. This discount is seasonal and customers often wait for it so they can buy what they like at a reduced price.
Discounts are also introduced to encourage sales. This happens especially with newly lunched products and brands. They introduce their wares at attractive prices so that customers start buying from them. The prices change to normal once they gain their feet and their products gain popularity.
Another reason for offering a price reduction is to reward customer loyalty. On a larger scale, this is usually practiced in the services industry. For example, airlines and hotels may offer discounted prices to regular customers. For products, it usually works as an arbitrary personal arrangement made at the retailer level.
Buying Online At Reduced Prices
Whatever the reason, a cost reduction is always a lure to a buyer. This is why online discount stores are so popular. These stores sell everything from household goods to apparel at attractive and reduced prices.
