All play and no work calls for an ideal day!

All week long, we wake up early, labour ourselves into wearing formal suits and ties; make this whole fuss about long travelling hours and not missing the 7.48 am fast train to arrive at 9.00 am dot in the office. Phew! That pretty much sounds like a regular routine of every office goer.

Everyday I have to go through the same early morning hurried routine with no time to grab a bite or even take a proper shower. The only two things that take all my attention is my train and the way I look!

But imagine if we all could work from office and dint really had to take the pains to wake up early, struggle through the traffic, set the tie right, polish the shoes right, match the make-up and rush out of the house while the dry toast is still in hands.

Wouldn't that be a perfect dream come true for an office goer? Formal wear will be replaced by casual wear, shiny shoes with beach sandals, trousers with pyjamas, shirts with a comfy cool tee, and ties with another funky necklace. Err, wait a minute. I've tried doing that once in while by calling in sick in the morning just to console myself with the thought that I'd work from home. And all I'd end up doing was waking up 12 noon, eating in bed, watching some lame TV soaps in bed and hardly walking up to the kitchen once!

Perhaps it's the attire that sets us up for various situations in our lives, and moulds our minds into set notions of expectations. Our behaviour is guided by what we wear, casual clothing means fun and happy or super lazy in my case, while formal clothing means responsibility and often boredom.

To cut the long story short and in order to make work less banal and routine, casual t-shirts, jeans and slip-ons should be allowed once in a while at work. Even though it will outlaw the expected conduct, consider the brighter side of wearing some printed office humour t-shirts and sparking some laughs in between tight deadlines! What a perfect and simple stress buster a T-shirt can be!
