Aluminium Is Everywhere Even In Deodorant

These days, it is possible to find aluminium in the strangest places did you know that this useful metal is even in some deodorants

? Before you get all excited about this revelation and rush to tell your friends, however, it is important to note that this isnt exactly the healthiest use for the metal. There are actually a number of factors that make the use of aluminium in deodorant highly dangerous.

Most deodorants contain two active ingredients aluminium chlorhydrate and aluminium zicarnium. Whilst many people confuse these compounds with the naturally occurring alum that we are so familiar with, there are actually quite a few differences that set them apart:

Alum

This is a large molecule that can actually kill bacteria on the surface of our skin and, because of its size, it cannot be absorbed into our bodies. It began its use in deodorants because it kills the bacteria (which cause body odor) that are released when we perspire.

Aluminium Chlorhydrate and Aluminium Zicarnium

These compounds began their use in deodorants because they are able to block our pores from breathing. This prevents toxins (in the form of perspiration) from leaving our bodies. As these substances are much smaller than the naturally occurring alum, they can be absorbed into our bodies and have been linked with the rising cases of breast cancer in women (whilst one cannot make the claim that it is the deodorant causing the cancer, there can be no denying that there is a distinct correlation).

As you can see, there are a number of differences between naturally occurring alum and the compounds that are commonly used in deodorants today. Whilst the manufacturers may claim that the compounds work in the same way that alum does, a closer look reveals that this is not actually the case alum is far healthier to use than aluminium chlorhydrate and aluminium zicarnium.

Remember that our skin is our largest organ and that it needs to breathe in order to function healthily and to dispose of all the toxins that can otherwise make us ill. The best way to ensure that our bodies are not being subjected to toxic aluminium compounds is to only use aluminium-free deodorants. These are commonly available in health food stores and many supermarkets now stock them as well. Just make sure that you thoroughly check the ingredients for any signs of the compounds listed above.
