Geo-grids and Geo-textiles enhance the base course performance and resulting in reduced aggregate thickness and increased road service life.

Geo-grids provide true base reinforcement through mechanical interlock and confinement. These are polymeric products generally formed by the intersecting ribs. Geo-grids are manufactured as either biaxial or uni-axial. Biaxial is manufactured through the process where the granular particles partially penetrate the apertures of the geo-grid and lock into the place as the material is compacted.

Biaxial geo-grids improve the structural integrity by confining and distributing load forces of roadways. When building permanent roads on a relatively firm foundation, this type of geo-grids provide enhance performance or reduction of the road structure thickness and in case of weak sub-grade condition these are used to provide a temporary road surface or a stable foundation for the permanent road.

Most of the properties of the geo-grids will impact on the performance of it as a base reinforcement material. There are several benefits that make it the choice to use for base reinforcement applications such as its strength, it is very high modulus, aperture stability, flexural rigidity, soil pull out testing and wide rolls will translate into less overlaps.
