This is because both ladders serve different purposes. Extension ladder is leans against a wall or tree whereas roofing ladder is used to reach the roof.

An important point to remember is that the roofing ladder can serve the purpose of extension ladder but the extension ladder can not be an alternative of roofing ladder. This is because the extension ladder lacks the safety feature which is required for doing roof work in a secure way.

Another quality of these ladders is that they consist of adjustable foot pads. These pads maintain a strong contact with floor thus ensuring your safety, stability and comfort. Another thing to keep in mind is that the steps of extension ladder are narrow and somewhat round so it is wise to wear footwear while working with this ladder. The footwear prevents the possible accidents which may otherwise occur if those steps get oily or slippery

These ladders are made using aluminum and fiberglass. Previously wood was used to construct these ladders, but with the change in trends and development, aluminum and fiberglass is used nowadays. The wooden ladders were more durable but they were heavier that aluminum ladder. Also wooden ladders were more exposed to damages caused by weather and insects. Therefore aluminum ladders are in demand now days as they are more resistant to damages.

However a negative aspect of these aluminum ladders is that they are good conductor of electricity so one's safety is not ensured. Also the aluminum ladder can bend easily under pressure, so it may become unstable and twisted over time. These ladders are suitable when you are working at a place that is away from power supply line and acidic salt water.

Fiber glass ladders are the best as they are safe, durable as well as a bad conductor of electricity. But the price of these ladders is higher that the other two types of ladder.

Roofing ladders are serves us in different ways. These are used by builders, carpenters and painters. These ladders help in painting, scaffolding and other tasks related to roofs.
