An Led Traffic Advisor Maintains Order During Times Of Crisis On The Roadways
We all have certain light systems built into our automobiles for the purpose of communicating
with others on the roadway and conveying what the driver intends to do next. Turn signals are used to let others know that the driver will be turning in a certain direction or that a lane change is intended. Hazard lights convey the message that the vehicle is in distress and/or is in a position that may be blocking others and that those on the roadway should exercise caution. Brake lights tell others that the vehicle is slowing down or is at a stop so those behind the driver should slow to a stop as well.
Headlights make a car more visible in dark or foggy conditions. Despite all of these safety devices in your car, in times of distress we often need the assistance of an emergency vehicle which uses an LED traffic advisor to help warn traffic on the road of the situation and guide it during that situation. Traditionally, emergency vehicles used incandescent light as their traffic advisor light source. However, LEDs have been slowly replacing incandescent lights in traffic advisors, as LEDs are much longer lasting, shine brighter and are more energy efficient. As such, an LED traffic advisor is more reliable and will not burn out all of a sudden during an emergency situation.
The lightbars that you see mounted on a police car include an LED traffic advisor, along with the blue and red warning lights, alley lights and the takedown lights. A police traffic advisor alerts vehicles that there is a hazardous condition on the road and serves to detour those on the road safely around the hazard. The LED traffic advisor uses sequential signaling to tell drivers where to go and when it is their turn to go. Traffic advisors typically have four modes of operation: right, left, split, and flash. Traffic advisors in a lightbar often have up to fifteen flash patterns.
Tow trucks also use a LED traffic advisor to maintain safety while assisting a vehicle in distress. The traffic advisors on tow trucks advise others on the roadways that they will need to exercise caution around the disabled vehicle and perhaps switch lanes to avoid it.
Construction vehicles also tend to have an LED traffic advisor. Since construction project can often obstruct portions of the roadway, it is important for certain construction vehicles to not only warn drivers on the roadways of the obstruction, but also to provide traffic control and a detour so drivers have a safe way to get where they need to go. Indeed, you will often see a stand-alone LED traffic advisor well ahead of the construction site with an arrow pointing a specific way to communicate that one or more lanes ahead are closed and that they must move into a new lane.
Traffic control relies heavily on the LED traffic advisor. Without this safety provision, chaos would certainly ensue, especially during traffic jams, and many drivers would be at a high risk of getting into accidents and being harmed. It is important to always respect a traffic advisor when you see it and follow its warnings.
